In the new series "Chief of War," New Zealand actress Luciane Buchanan plays Kaʻahumanu, wife of King Kamehameha. To prepare for the role, Buchanan went on a personal journey to the queen’s birth place in Hana, Maui. She shed tears speaking of those emotional moments. “I might not be the right person to play her. I’m going to do the best that I can and it’s not from a place of ego. It’s out of respect,” she said.
