Rarely seen, the Eastern Tiger Salamander is the largest salamander in New Jersey. They are located in the southernmost counties of the state. Conservation efforts focused on vernal pools and man-made water complexes that these salamanders need for reproduction have slowed the decline of their population in New Jersey, giving hope for this species.
