September 11, 1982: On this day 43 years ago, the #19 Miami Hurricanes defeated the Houston Cougars 31-12 in front of 24,687 fans in their home opener at the Orange Bowl. Sadly, it would be the final home game for senior Miami quarterback Jim Kelly. He would suffer a separated shoulder the following week at Virginia Tech that would sideline him for the remainder of the season.
