Rory McIlroy, the defending champion at the Truist Championship, goes into the third day trailing leader Keith Mitchell by five shots; the reigning Masters champion will chase more major success at the PGA Championship this month;

McIlroy shot an opening 4-under 66 that featured six birdies and long drives. "I certainly can tidy a few things up," he said, "but overall a decent day.”
