The Idaho House of Representatives approved a resolution that calls on the court to strike down the landmark 2015 decision that legalized same-sex marriage.

In 2006, Idaho voters passed an amendment to the state Constitution to define marriage as a union between a man and a woman, though the Supreme Court’s ruling nearly a decade later found that such laws violate the 14th Amendment’s equal protection and due process guarantees.

GOP lawmakers in Idaho are pushing to end same-sex marriage by sending a letter to the U.S. Supreme Court asking it to overturn its landmark decision.

Idaho House representatives voted Monday, 46-24, to advance "House Joint Memorial 1." In it, they write that they reject the U.S. Supreme Court's 2015 decision in "Obergefell v. Hodges" and demand that it be overturned.
