A champion has been crowned, which means it's time to look ahead to 2025-26 for the top NCAA tournament teams.

The men and women’s basketball tournaments would hold their semifinals and title games in the same city on the same weekend, with similar staggered scheduling as there currently is. Though a combined Final Four likely couldn’t take place until at least 2032, with sites on both sides locked in until 2031.

The 2025 men's NCAA tournament came to a close on Monday night, with the Florida Gators earning a hard-fought 65-63 victory over the Houston Cougars for their first national championship since they won back-to-back titles in 2006 and 2007.

Teams will often cut down nets to commemorate a win in the Elite Eight — which earns them a spot in the Final Four, a program-defining accomplishment at many schools — or if they win a conference tournament championship. Others will bypass it, choosing instead to only cut the nets for a national title.

The women's college basketball transfer portal opened one week later than it did last year, but that hasn't curtailed the activity. Since it opened March 24, more than 1,200 players have entered. Just over 100 have already committed to new schools, but with the portal open for another three weeks much more activity is expected.
