The judge presiding over the upcoming burglary trial of state Sen. Nicole Mitchell is postponing the trial given the slaying of Rep. Melissa Hortman, who was fatally shot along with her husband in their home Saturday morning.

Vance Boelter, 57, has been charged in the shootings of two Minnesota lawmakers and their spouses. The Hennepin County Attorney said Monday that her office intends to pursue first-degree murder charges against him as well.

Boelter, 57, arrived in federal court in an orange jumpsuit and slippers and was unshackled as he sat next to a defense lawyer, according to a report.
