Russia attacked Ukrainian energy facilities with dozens of missiles and drones during the night, officials said Friday, hobbling the country’s ability to deliver heat and light to its citizens and to power weapons factories vital to its defenses.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has said that Russia carried out more than 2,100 aerial bomb attacks on Ukraine in the past week. In a post on his X account on Sunday, Zelenskyy also reported that Russian forces deployed nearly 870 attack drones and over 80 missiles of various types against Ukraine.

Ukraine said Sunday that Russia launched over one hundred drones overnight, targeting the capital and several regions at a crucial point in the war as Washington has frozen aid supplies. The wave of attacks followed deadly strikes Friday and Saturday in eastern and northeastern Ukraine that killed at least 14 people.

Russia launched a large-scale aerial assault on Ukraine overnight, deploying 145 kamikaze drones, two Iskander ballistic missiles, and a cruise missile. The attack comes just two days after the United States halted military intelligence-sharing with Ukraine.
