Everton midfielder Orel Mangala has sustained an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury and is expected to miss the rest of the season, while striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin is set to miss a number of weeks with a hamstring injury.

Mangala's condition is far worse, the Belgian international having suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury that will render him unavailable for the rest of the season. The midfielder is with Everton on a loan deal from Lyon that will expire before he is fit to play again.

The striker looked in immediate pain as he pulled up after challenging for a long ball against Brighton and Hove Albion. He initially received treatment on the pitch before hobbling off and heading straight down the tunnel, replaced by Beto.

Everton were handed a double injury blow on Thursday when the Premier League club announced midfielder Orel Mangala would miss the rest of the season with a knee injury while striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin was sidelined with a hamstring injury.
