Local News Seattle man dies in 3,000-foot fall on Mount McKinley Alex Chiu, 41, was recovered Wednesday morning after falling from the West Buttress climbing route onto Peters Glacier.

A Seattle man’s body was recovered in Alaska after he fell about 3,000 feet while hiking at Mount McKinley this week, the National Park Service said.

Poor weather conditions prevented search and rescue from sending a team to locate and recover Chiu's body until early in the morning on June 4.
