The Vancouver Canucks are in the market for a centre, and they apparently tried to acquire a player with close ties to Quinn Hughes.

Hughes (undisclosed) won't play Friday versus the Wild, Brendan Batchelor of Sportsnet 650 reports. Hughes is set to miss a second straight game due to his latest injury. The 25-year-old blueliner had one assist over three contests after recovering from an oblique injury in February.
