A new area in the Atlantic has been tagged for possible tropical development. The area of interest was first highlighted on Wednesday – the statistical peak of hurricane season.
Hurricane Erin is now a Category 1 hurricane in the early stages of transitioning into a post-tropical storm, the National Hurricane Center said early Friday morning. It's expected to keep moving across the North Atlantic Ocean over the next few days.
The footage of Erin was captured by the Sen SpaceTV-1 camera system mounted on the International Space Station in low Earth orbit. The space streaming company Sen says its SpaceTV-1 mission launched to the ISS in 2024, and its public livestream began in December that year.
The massive Category 2 storm will keep delivering dangerous coastal conditions to the East Coast throughout the week.
