The Portland Thorns of the National Women’s Soccer League and the city’s as-yet unnamed WNBA team will train together at a new performance center in a first-of-its-kind alliance between the two leagues.

The project comes a little over one year after the Bhathal family, who are also investors in the NBA’s Sacramento Kings, completed its $ 63-million acquisition of the Thorns. In September, the family was a warded the WNBA’s 15th franchise, which has sold more than 8,000 season tickets before announcing its name.
