The first word of the truce came from U.S. President Donald Trump, who posted on his Truth Social platform that he was pleased to announce that India and Pakistan had agreed to a full and immediate ceasefire. “Congratulations to both Countries on using Common Sense and Great Intelligence. Thank you for your attention to this matter!”

Indian Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri on Saturday accused Pakistan of committing “repeated violations” of a peace deal between the two countries that President Donald Trump announced just hours earlier.

Intensifying its military action against Pakistan amid escalating hostilities, India on Saturday announced the launch of Mission DEAD, an acronym for Destruction of Enemy Air Defence. The annoucement comes after India launched Mission SEAD, short for Suppression Of Enemy Air Defence, under Operation Sindoor II.

The neighbors have been in conflict over the disputed border region since their independence and partition in 1947.

Pakistan accused India of launching air-to-surface missiles that targeted at least three bases. Soon after, Pakistani officials said retaliatory action against Indian bases had begun.
