St. Louis police have released the name of the officer hit by a car on Interstate 70 on Monday. Officer Nathan Spiess, 31, was identified on Wednesday as the injured officer. Court documents state that his leg had to be partially amputated after being hit on the interstate near Shreve.

Nathan Spiess was identified Wednesday as the officer whose leg was amputated following a chase on Interstate 70. He was resting after a successful surgery the day before, police said.
