Noah, now 600, his wife, his sons, their wives and two of every living creature were to enter. After 7 days, the flood came for 40 days and 40 nights. The water prevailed on the earth 150 days.

From now on when we read “for it is you that I have seen righteous before me in this generation” (7:1) take a minute to be in awe of Noah, the Torah’s most underrated transformational hero.

Recorded in the Bible’s first book of Genesis, the Noah’s Ark story spans chapters 6 through 9. Due to its length, we focus on Genesis 6 and 7 and, next week, chapters 8 and 9.
