The Edmonton Oilers seem to be busy the night before the NHL Trade Deadline. After a series of waiver movements following the trade that saw them acquire Trent Frederic and Max Jones, more appears to be on the way.

Before Thursday night’s game against the Colorado Avalanche, the Sharks had already traded goalie Vitek Vanecek and center Nico Sturm to the Florida Panthers in separate deals. In February, San Jose sent forward Mikael Granlund and defenseman Cody Ceci to the Dallas Stars, and goalie Mackenzie Blackwood to the Avalanche in December.

The Oilers have reportedly completed a trade with San Jose Sharks that will deliver left shot defenceman Jake Walman to Edmonton in exchange for a first round draft choice, presumably in 2026 since the 2025 first has already been traded.

Faceoff’s Frank Seravalli, the Edmonton Oilers are expected to acquire defenseman Jake Walman from the San Jose Sharks. According to Seravalli, the Oilers still have some work to do to make the deal go through.

Walman has been San Jose's No. 1 defenseman all season. The Sharks acquired the d-man and a 2024 second-round pick from the Detroit Red Wings for future considerations. Latest On

: NHL insider Frank Seravalli reports that indeed the Edmonton Oilers are acquiring defenseman Jake Walman from the San Jose Sharks, but that the trade may have to wait until to tomorrow. Oilers insider Ryan Rishaug also says that the return for the Sharks will be a conditional pick and a prospect.
