Scout, which is now an independent company under the Volkswagen Group, introduced its first new-concept vehicles today: the Terra truck and the Traveler SUV. Both vehicles are body-on-frame, sitting on top a brand-new EV platform unique to Scout. And both could start at under $60,000 (with incentives) when production begins in 2027.

The Volkswagen-backed startup debuts its SUV and truck concepts, on order now with 300 to 500 miles of range, a 'snappy' touch screen, and a for-Americans-by-Americans ethos.

Scout's new battery-electric and range-extended SUV and truck made their first appearance during a private event outside Nashville, Tennessee.

Volkswagen's Scout Motors unit on Thursday unveiled its concept electric SUV and truck and said it will offer extended-range versions that include a small gasoline engine. VW is building a $2 billion factory in South Carolina and expects to begin production of the new vehicles in 2027.

Volkswagen AG’s forthcoming Scout line of battery-powered sport utility vehicles and pickup trucks is adding gasoline-fueled internal combustion engines to the mix.

The new Scout Motors brand will also offer hybrids as it competes with Ford, Rivian and Tesla for a share of the truck market.
