MONTGOMERY, Ala. ( WSFA) - The Montgomery Biscuits are reacting to the death of Hall of Fame second baseman Ryne Sandberg. Sandberg, one of baseball’s best all-around players while starring for the Chicago Cubs, died after a cancer battle on Monday, the Associated Press reported.
Late Monday, it was announced that Hall of Fame second baseman Ryne Sandberg had died at age 65. Sandberg revealed in January 2024 that he had been diagnosed with metastatic prostate cancer, before being considered cancer-free that August.
Bears coach Ben Johnson called Ryne Sandberg “a big part of my childhood” in offering condolences to the family of the Cubs’ Hall of Fame second baseman who died Monday night.
Hall of Famer Ryne Sandberg managed the Tennessee Smokies for a single season and left a lifetime of memories for those in the organization.
