Students and faculty members at Harvard University have engaged in pro-Palestinian “study-in” protests at university libraries, as protests at other campuses nationwide have also begun to pull in teachers.

Angered that students were disciplined for staging a silent "study-in" last month, some Harvard professors organized their own demonstration. Now they are facing a similar punishment.

Harvard University on Thursday banned roughly 25 faculty members from entering the school’s main library for two weeks, after the scholars staged a silent “study-in” in protest.

About 25 faculty members were notified by email that they are suspended from entering the Widener library for two weeks, The Harvard Crimson reported Thursday.

It was one of several silent protests by students demanding Harvard University divests its endowment from companies that profit from Israel’s ongoing occupation of Gaza. There were prior demonstrations at Widener Library in September, and student groups held another action Thursday at Langdell.
