The European Union has welcomed the United Kingdom’s decision to rejoin the Erasmus+ programme as a “big step forward”, framing the move as both a practical and symbolic reset in post-Brexit relations.
it is at the same time seeking to extend the Erasmus program to students from third countries, including African nations. Hanko noted that it has now been three years since the European Commission excluded Hungarian students from the Erasmus program and Hungarian researchers from the Horizon research framework.
The Erasmus scheme allows students to study, train or volunteer in other European countries for up to a year, without paying any extra fees. It is also open to those in vocational training, apprentices or people who are retraining through a college or school.
