Entire north and northwest India is shivering under extreme cold wave conditions for the past few days. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), dense fog and cold day conditions are likely to continue over parts of northwest and central India during the next two days and improve thereafter.

The states in northern and northwestern India are key producers of rabi crops like wheat, peas, gram and barley. These crops are grown in winter (October to December) and harvested in summer (April to June).

In the next three days, the Indian Meteorological Department has predicted a fall of three-four degrees in the night in Punjab, Haryana, Delhi and Rajasthan.
