Police arrested Gerard Hayes, 43, on a felony terroristic threat charge after alleging he called 911 to report a bomb in his vehicle at the H-E-B, an Austin police officer said at a news conference Friday. Hayes was not arrested at the H-E-B.

AUSTIN, Texas - The Austin Police Department says it is investigating a bomb threat at an H-E-B. The incident is happening at the H-E-B located at 7301 North FM 620 Road. Police say when they arrived at the scene they located one unoccupied suspicious vehicle within the parking lot.

Austin police are asking people to avoid the area around a Northwest Austin H-E-B while detectives investigate a bomb threat, according to a Friday morning news release. Austin police responded to an urgent bomb threat call at an H-E-B at 7301 North FM 620 just after 8 a.

Police say when they arrived at the scene they located one unoccupied suspicious vehicle within the parking lot. Officers put a perimeter around the vehicle. The APD Bomb Squad determined the item was not an explosive device.

A person has been detained following a bomb threat investigation at an H-E-B near Lake Travis. Austin police said they were called to the store on North FM 620 and 4 Points Drive around 8 a.m. Friday.
