Airbus bagged multibillion-dollar plane orders from Saudi Arabia and Poland on the opening day of the Paris Airshow clouded by a separate diplomatic dispute over France's decision to shut down some Israeli stands for displaying deadly weapons.

Airbus SE won an order for as many as 50 widebody jets from Saudi Arabia’s new carrier, as the kingdom pours billions of dollars into turning the country into an aviation and tourism hub.

Saudi startup Riyadh Air signed a deal at the Paris Airshow on Monday to buy 25 Airbus A350-1000 jets, the planemaker said.

Airbus has secured an order for 40 of its A220 planes from Polish national carrier LOT, winning a hard-fought contest with Brazil's Embraer. Including options, the deal could increase to up to 84 A220s,
