RUIDOSO, N.M. — Flooding is once again hitting the Ruidoso area, damaging homes and businesses and wiping away at least one home. A flash flood warning is in effect until 3:30 p.m. Lindsey Tharpe posted video of a home floating away on Paradise Canyon at Hart.

Over 90 Airmen from Holloman Air Force Base and Fort Bliss were dispatched to assist people affected by the devastating flooding in the Village of Ruidoso and the Mescalero Apache Tribe. According to the news release from Holloman AFB,
Tyler Wentzel is the general manager at Ruidoso’s Riverside RV Park, and witnessed Rio Ruidoso’s record swell to over 20 feet on July 8, destroying hundreds of homes in its wake, and killing a man and two children.
The Rio Ruidoso rose significantly due to burn scar flash flooding that prompted an emergency alert. The river surged to about 12 and a half feet at Hollywood. The river reached more than 20 feet during historic flooding earlier in July.
