First of all I was born in Honesdale Pa, in 1969, having said that we went across the bridge to the battlefield all the time. However I remember the bridge made of wood and it wasn't a road at all like it is now. I can not find proof of this anywhere and unfortunately ,y mom has passed who would know of this now. I grew up in Greeley, and I remember an Ice-cream stand on way to Berryville, and Shola. There was the church, doctor Pectus and his horse, and an ice-cream parlor with a general store like in Murphy's Romance (movie). Please let me know if the bridge was wooden and had to go really slow , and there was a toll booth at NY side .

The bridge is located on NYS highway 97. You want to drive to Port Jervis, NY where you will pick up highway 97 for a very scenic drive along the Delaware River. The bridge and a small adjacent structure housing the very interesting museum all about the bridge with photos, etc will be on your left, literally you can't miss it.
